Our dog grooming salon is located within our kenneling facility. As animal lovers ourselves, we know that your dog is an important member of your family, and we will make him/her both look and feel good with our excellent grooming staff and facilities. When you bring your dog to us for grooming your dog will receive professional bathing, grooming and styling to ensure that they leave us calmly and looking their very best. Your pet's health is very important to us, we never use tranquilizers or other sedating drugs on any dog.

Not only are our groomers skilled and experienced people - but they are also amongst the best of the best when it comes to grooming your dog, of any breed, or size. At Fir Tree Kennels, we operate one of the top dedicated dog grooming training schools in the North of England (Fir Tree Grooming Academy). Our staff have the necessary skills, experience and qualifications, including extensive show quality scissor cuts for the most demanding client. We train dog grooming students to the very high standard of dog grooming stylist, and we're happy to utilise these skills and our specialist equipment for grooming and styling your dog. We will be pleased to groom your dog to the highest standards, in a style that reflects the breed and your everyday needs.

Our dog grooming salon uses all natural products throughout the grooming process, including biodegradable shampoos and conditioners, which are safe for both the dogs and the environment. The product range of choice within our salon is Doreen Paige, who's policy reflects our own beliefs "…nature has provided us with a host of herbs and plants with unique properties benefiting the skin and coat. There is no need to be using harsh chemicals on our animals when naturally developed products are better and kinder." - and we couldn't put it any better ourselves!

Part of every grooming appointment includes a general health check of your pet and it's coat, eyes, ears and teeth. We can often alert owners to signs or symptoms of potential medical problems, so that you have an opportunity to discuss these with your vet at an earlier stage.

At Fir Tree Grooming we run one of the top training courses for dog groomers and stylists. One of the most important aspects of our training course is the hands-on grooming and styling of various breeds of dogs. We're always looking for suitable dog models for inclusion in our dog grooming training courses. If you have a groomed breed of dog, no matter how long since the last grooming appointment, call us to discuss including your pet on our list of available models. We don't charge for this service, and we guarantee that your pet will be treated with the utmost care and returned to you with a presentable styling cut, correct for the breed of dog, on completion of the day's lesson.
